C'mon, women -- fess up!

So, for 8 1/2 years now (yes, our entire marriage), Paul has been shaking his head while I bring the groceries in from the car. You see, I am VERY opposed to making multiple trips, so I do anything I can to get all the groceries in at once. (Now that I'm having to shop for a family of 6 this isn't really possible, but I still load up to make as few trips as possible.)

Paul sees my arms draped with bags and me about to collapse under the weight and says, "You know you can make more than one trip!" or "If you would have waited I would have helped you." I can't even count the number of times he has said this to me.

A couple of weeks ago my dad was shaking his head at my mom saying how she insists on trying to get everything into the house in one trip. So maybe it's an inherited determination?

Well, Friday night we had our dear friends Scotty and Marilee over for one last time before they move. (Boo-hoo ... :( ) Anyway, as Scotty was taking stuff out to the car to leave, Marilee said how he takes a few things out to the car at a time and gets mad at her for trying to get everything in one trip.

When he came back in she informed him that they are not alone in that debate. It was hilarious -- Marilee and I were sticking up for getting it all in one trip while our husbands were saying how easy it is to make more than one trip. I was laughing so hard. But it got us wondering -- do any of the rest of you have this debate? Or is it just a coincidence between us our long-time friends?

It is NOT just a coincidence....we have this debate, too! It's funny because I was talking to a friend about this very same issue yesterday. Our husbands were unloading all their camping gear (from the Father & Sons campout), and it took them about 25 trips to do it! I know that the girls could've unloaded the van in about 5 :)

My husband and I both load up our arms as much as possible. He has way more muscle mass than I do, but I can usually cary more stuff because I have more will power. We have to go up 3 flights of stairs with the stuff so we usually take a rest at the mail boxes, then again at the bottom of the stairs before we make the lasd effort to getr the stuff in the house. Sometimes we look around to see if there is a shopping cart anywhere nearby so we can load it up and park it at the bottom of the stairs and haul everything from there! It's hot here in Mesa, and once we get in the house with the air conditioner,we don't wanna have to go back out in the heat to make another trip if we can help it! Sometimes if we have more than we can carry in 1 trip, we make a decision about what HAS to go in the house now and what can wait untill tomorrow. Perrishable stuff goes in first and stuff like bottled water, and toilet paper get left in the car untill the next day.

I just let my husband carry everything! Lol He usually greets me at the tail gate of the van when I come home with grocerries and we both grab as many bags or items as we can. Rarely do we get it all in one trip...especially if we go to Costco! However, Costco trips are usually in the middle of the day and I have the joys of unloading everything by myself! My husband usually is the one to put the stuff away though because he likes to make sure everything is organized...he is ocd that way!lol

I do that too! It may be a woman thing.

Thankyou so much for your loving and kind words. They meant so much to me especially right now. I feel like I have fallen in a depression since yesterday. I had a minor asthma attack from all the emotional stress. That was the kindest words that someone has written me in a long time. I believe your right with feeling the pain that Christ felt. I never thought of it that way. Normally my faith strengthens in the time of stress, but yesterday I felt it so far gone. I'm just going to keep praying that maybe one day my doctors will find a way to fix it. I'm considering if it continues to get worse over the next several years of getting a second opinion. I felt this surgeon just brushed me off and thought I was a hypocondriact, especially when he said it wont get worse. I'm just going to keep praying and keep my faith strong, its so hard to lose it when you hear such depressing words. I feel like i've had a pity party, but yesterday was just a horrible day. To top it off I gained over 10 pounds in less than two weeks. I can't understand how THAT ones even possible.. lol Water weight.. my email by the way is
jamielynn2004@yahoo.com Thankyou again for being here for me. I hope I can be here for you as much as you've been here for me. I love you guys :) ~Jamie~

I am totally with you on this one, Denise. I'm a one-trip person. My dad always gets mad at me when I try and carry all the groceries in at once at his house. I think Lee is somewhere in the middle -- not too many trips, but not worth the effort for just one. Am I right, Lee? (Anything can happen when you haven't "lived" with someone for two years...)

Hey Denise,

My dad is planning to come to Springville for his reunion. He can't seem to get a hold of your mom or Aunt Sonia. Do you have any idea of how he can get a hold of her?

My 2 cents: I'm a one-trip kind of guy. I'll damage my fingers and crush all the bread before I give in to walking all the way back to the car from the house.

Whoops--I didn't read the title of the post ("C'mon, women -- fess up!") before I (a dude) posted a comment... feel free to delete these two anytime, Denise.
